This year's theme emphasizes technological innovation to diminish the distance between humans and nature, focusing on way-finding and navigation, plant and wildlife insights, gamified learning, and community engagement. By adopting user-centered design principles and incorporating ethical, accessibility, and privacy considerations, participants are encouraged to present their designs via wireframes, mockups, or prototypes. The judging criteria highlight the importance of uniqueness, usability, educational content, and technical viability, aiming to cultivate a community of environmental stewards through a thoughtfully designed mobile application.

Initial Thoughts/Questions on the Prompt
Initial Thoughts/Questions on the Prompt
  • User Challenges in Navigation: What is the number of users who found problems in navigation in urban parks? What specific issues did they face while navigating? Is this truly an actual problem, and what is the need for solving it?

  • Interest in Plant and Wildlife Information: Do visitors like to see exhaustive information about plants and wildlife? Why is understanding their ecological importance necessary?

  • Role of Gamified Learning in Sustainability: How are sustainability and conservation games helpful in enhancing the visitation experience?

  • Engagement with Games in Parks: Do people typically play games in parks? If not, when and where would they prefer to engage with these games?

  • People find botanical gardens no different from other gardens since they get no educational significance out of it.

  • People who visit for educational purposes are too low because of the difficulties faced in the learning process in the botanical gardens.

  • They just know them for tough names since there is no other information available and those names makes no sense alone,

  • Conversational and sustainability games would help people keep coming back to the gardens,

User Interview
User Interview

We interviewed 4 users and identified two main user personas: first-time users (tourists) and locals who regularly visit. Additionally, users could be categorized into those who visit for educational purposes and those who do not. Focusing on the first category is more beneficial for tackling the problem. Question 1 was validated, and other concerns such as language barriers and safety concerns emerged.
